Health sources at the Kirkuk Health Directorate revealed today, Thursday (May 7, 2026), that strict preventive measures have been taken following the suspected infection of a woman in her forties with hemorrhagic fever, prompting her immediate transfer to a government hospital and medical isolation.
The sources reported that the patient was placed in quarantine immediately upon suspicion of her condition, and she is being handled in accordance with approved epidemiological health protocols.
They noted that the patient's health condition remains unstable, while samples have been collected from her and sent to central laboratories in the capital, Baghdad, for necessary laboratory testing to accurately determine the type of infection.
The sources confirmed that the case is being handled based on suspicion only, and that infection has not yet been confirmed, explaining that test results expected to be issued in the coming hours will definitively resolve the health situation.
