Iraqi Oil Shipments Cross Borders by Land: Exports from Rabia Launched with 70 Tankers

Iraq inaugurated a new export phase today, Friday (May 1, 2026), via the Rabia land crossing, as the first batch of 70 tankers loaded with crude oil crossed towards Syrian territory. Head of the Border Ports Authority Omar Adnan Al-Waili affirmed that this step embodies the government's policy of expanding marketing options and reducing reliance on singular maritime outlets, thereby multiplying financial revenues and easing logistical pressure. Al-Waili noted the existence of comprehensive development plans to expand the crossing's facilities and increase the number of trucks passing through, making Rabia a logistical hub serving Iraqi exports and deepening economic interdependence with neighboring countries.
