Tehran Confirms Lebanon's Inclusion in Truce Agreement, Emphasizes Joint Sovereignty Over the Strait of Hormuz
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the prospective memorandum of understanding with the United States explicitly includes provisions regarding Lebanon. Tehran reiterated its unwavering commitment to its allies, clarifying that a comprehensive end to military operations necessitates the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon. In official statements, the Ministry noted that this agreement serves as a preliminary step in a 60-day negotiation process aimed at addressing outstanding issues, primarily the nuclear dossier. It warned that threatening rhetoric or failure to fulfill obligations would derail the negotiations. Regarding maritime navigation, Tehran stated that the management of the Strait of Hormuz will not revert to its pre-war status, affirming joint sovereignty with the Sultanate of Oman while committing to ensuring the safe passage of crossing vessels.
