Farmers Demonstrate in Baghdad Demanding Nine Reforms to Support Agricultural Sector

Dozens of farmers from Diyala Governorate and other provinces organized a demonstration in central Baghdad to demand their rights and improve conditions in the agricultural sector. Their demands included canceling the 2026 wheat pricing, accelerating the disbursement of previous season dues, securing marketing funds for the current season, as well as compensating for flood damages and canceling arbitrary procedures in the marketing file. They also called for postponing loans, dropping lawsuits filed against them, canceling electronic reservations, and discharging 2019 flood compensation. The demonstration organizer warned of continued protests if the relevant authorities do not respond to these legitimate demands.
