An Iranian police officer was killed in an armed attack in the Sistan and Baluchestan province in the southeastern part of the country. Reports indicate that unidentified gunmen opened fire on a security officer while he was heading to his workplace in the Sib and Suran county. This border province is considered an area facing ongoing security challenges, where security forces are frequently targeted, alongside the activities of armed groups and smuggling networks, which have previously resulted in casualties among both security personnel and civilians.
