Excessive Speed and Dilapidated Roads Exacerbate the Toll of Traffic Accident Victims

Former member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Baqir Al-Saadi, identified on Sunday three main causes behind the continuous rise in traffic accident rates that claim the lives of thousands in Iraq annually. Al-Saadi said in a press statement that 45% of catastrophic accidents occur on external roads connecting provinces, attributing this primarily to reckless driving and non-compliance with speed limits, followed by poor road infrastructure, as well as suffocating traffic congestion. In a related context, traffic experts confirmed that human fatigue and failure to comply with laws are the decisive factors in the occurrence of these tragedies.
